QUESTION?
I don’t have time. What should I do?
ANSWER
Reframe the question
At my Monday mindfulness class we were talking about reframing the question.
Our lives are dictated by the questions that we ask ourselves. Often those questions are harsh and critical, demanding instant reactions. If we can learn to reframe the question then the instant reaction can become a gentler and more positive response.
Turning, “I don’t have time, what should I do?” into “How can I make more time?” does make a difference.
Most of us will have issues with time. For many of us, “I don’t have time,” is a constant refrain.
I wrote “A BUSY FOOL” to remind myself that it is worth reframing the question. When I ask myself, “How can I make time?” it makes me look at how I currently spend time. If I then find that some of what I do is actually a waste of time, it can be dumped, and hey ho, suddenly I have more time!
POEM FOR TODAY
A BUSY FOOL
How often ‘midst the busyness do we take time to see
If the stuff we’re busy doing is what’s best for you and me,
Do we make our lives a busy list, agendas that us rule,
Have we misplaced our discretion and become a busy fool?
It’s so easy to act thoughtless, let distraction have its way
As we fill each day with things to do, do more and more each day
‘Til we’re running ourselves ragged, moving further from our core
And ignoring little whispers saying, “Less may still be more.”
So if we have become busy, let us take a moment to
Contemplate if all this doing’s really best for me and you,
For a life that’s full of action may in time begin to pall
If the stuff we’re busy doing’s not worth doing after all.

And just before you go ……
I would like to share a very special site with you.
Subhan Zein is a young man who was born in Indonesia 29 years ago. Young in years he may be, but Subhan is, what I would call, “an old soul”. Subhan believes in the University of Life. As he would say, “Whilst you may learn much from formal education and make a good living, you learn more from self education where you make a good life.” I often visit him and you should too. You will always find a welcome and words of inspiration at Subhan’s place.
Go pay him a visit at http://subhanzein.wordpress.com/about/.
You will not be disappointed.
Have a good day.
